Sixteen years ago, Hector Hoyos arrived in Alabama from Puerto Rico as a missionary with $127 and 27 garbage bags. No connections. No safety net. Just faith and a willingness to work harder than anyone else.

Then came Secret Gardens & Learning Center — a 3-acre garden center where families come to learn, explore, and connect with nature. A place where every customer leaves with a Blessing Bag of fresh produce, because kindness is how we say thank you.

After 35 years in this career, the most important thing Hector has learned is this: an outdoor living space isn't a luxury — it's a need. Your home. Your backyard. Your piece of earth. A person who isn't connected with nature never has peace.
